Sisters Hop Fest Half Marathon & 5k

Registerarrow-right-1

Join us for the 2nd Sisters Hop Fest Half Marathon and 5k! Run or walk a half marathon or 5k in the morning, enjoy a beer when  you finish at Three Creeks Brewing Company’s brewing facility, then spend the afternoon at the Sisters Fresh Hop Fest. That’s a pretty sweet Central Oregon day!

Unfortunately, the Sisters Fresh Hop Festival, i.e., The Brew Fest, has been cancelled for 2021. But the RACE is still on! Three Creeks Brewing Company is being very gracious and still letting the race use their production facility for the start/finish venue. Hopefully next year we can get back to the race-and-fresh-hop-festival day that was the goal of this event. For this year, we hope you’ll still join us for the race, then enjoy the afternoon at the Sisters Glory Daze Car Show in downtown Sisters.

The Sisters Hop Fest Half & 5k was inspired by the Thirsty 13 Half Marathon and San Juan Brewfest in Durango, CO. If Durango can have a super fun day that includes a half marathon and brewfest, then Sisters can, too!

Registration

If you’re tired of over-priced and over-hyped events, then the Hop Fest Half is for you. We give you a great course, good, local food, post-race beer or non-alcoholic beverage, and cool socks or hat, all for under $50 if you register at least a few days before race day, and then only add $6 if you want to wait until packet pickup or race morning.

Registration takes place on Ultrasignup.com.

1/2 Marathon: $49 through September 22; $55 at packet pickup and race day

5k: $30 through September 22; $35 at packet pickup and race day

Event Details

The Sisters Hop Fest Half Marathon & 5k takes place Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 8 a.m. We hope to make this race as local as possible, highlighting some of the great businesses and services that Sisters has to offer! Proceeds from this event will benefit the Sisters High School Swim Team.

The Sisters Hop Fest Half starts and finishes at Three Creeks Brewing Production Facility on Barclay Dr. in Sisters’s industrial park at 8 a.m. The course is a single 13.1 mile loop, taking advantage of rural paved and dirt county and forest service roads north of town. Road shoes work well on this course. Spectators are welcome to drive all of the course except the northern-most part from miles 5-8, so bring your crew to come out and cheer (just please be aware of residents and other motorists, and, of course, runners)! The 5k will start on Sun Ranch Dr, about 1/4 mile north of the 1/2 marathon start, at 8:15 a.m. and will be mostly flat on a mix of paved and dirt roads.

*Note that the half marathon is not certified, rather, pretty close to its advertised distance. The 5k is closer to 5.3k.

Then head back to the Production Facility in the afternoon and enjoy the 11th Sisters Fresh Hop Fest, complete with fresh hopped brews from 24 of Oregon’s finest breweries! Finishers Awards: All finishers receive a super stylish Sisters Fresh Hop Festival trucker hat or cool pair of Sisters Hop Fest Half socks, custom pint glass (that can be used at the Fresh Hop Fest if you attend), and a post-race beverage from Three Creeks Brewing (alcohol for those over 21 years of age, rootbeer for under). PLEASE BRING YOUR ID!

Parking: The lot next door to the production facility will be available, as will the roads in the Sisters Industrial Park on the north side of Barclay Dr, but please do not park in front of the Sheriff Station. We encourage carpooling.

Aid Stations: There will be four aid stations at miles 3.3, 6.3, 9.5, and 10.5. All aid stations will have water and Nuun; mile 6.3 will also have GU gels.

Time Limit: The course closes at 11:30 a.m., making for a 3hr 30min half marathon, or 16 min/mi.

Medical Assistance: Sisters Fire Department medical professionals will be available should you need aid.

Weather: Fall in Central Oregon is typically pretty nice, but we could get a cold and/or rainy day, or a hot one. Expect to wear layers and be prepared for anything. You will be able to drop gear at aid stations.

Music / Strollers / Dogs: Music players are allowed, but please run with only one earbud in, be aware of other runners and traffic, and use general caution, as the course is open to traffic. Strollers are allowed but not recommended, as part of the course is on semi-rocky forest service roads. Dogs are allowed in the 5k (sorry, not quite yet in the 1/2 marathon, but I’m working on it. Please also check out the Peterson Ridge Rumble in April for a dog-friendly trail race!).
